Choosing recipes for your camera

Why does the camera matter for a recipe?

A recipe is a set of in-camera JPEG settings, and the available settings depend on your camera's sensor generation. A recipe written for an X-Trans 5 body may use film simulations or controls an older camera doesn't have. Choosing recipes tested for your exact body avoids that mismatch.

Can I use a recipe from a different Fujifilm camera?

Often yes, if the cameras share a sensor generation — for example most X-Trans 4 bodies behave alike. Across generations you may need to adapt the recipe, since simulations and colour controls differ. Each recipe lists its compatible sensors and cameras.

How do I add a recipe to my Fujifilm camera?

Open the Image Quality menu, select an empty custom setting slot (C1–C7), set the base film simulation, then enter each value from the recipe's settings table and save. Select that slot whenever you want the look.
